Imagine being able to provide vital help to an average of ten families every week. Imagine again being able to provide those families with household goods and furnishings at no cost to them. This work is exactly what is being accomplished in Chester County through the Community Warehouse Project.

S&T Bank continues to support this organization that strives to turn empty houses into homes through community commitment and involvement. Donated furniture and other household items are collected and redistributed to families and individuals (including Veterans) within the region.

This is usually a one-time, free service provided to pre-screened recipients in need, with the goal of providing people in poverty or other hardships with a furnished home. Volunteers work to sort, organize, arrange, clean and even repair various items in the warehouse for distribution. The belief is that home means belonging, safety, love and comfort and this service delivers a feeling of stability when it’s needed most.

Community Warehouse Project Program Administrator, Christine Polywacz, explains what assistance from businesses such as S&T means, stating, “We are very grateful for the continued relationship we have with S&T Bank. The number of volunteers that come to the warehouse on a regular basis is amazing. We are a small organization with only two staff members, myself and CEO and Executive Director, Glenda Brion, and we could not fulfill our mission without them. They assist us with general tasks that are so important, but time-consuming, like sorting and arranging donations, packing up boxes of dishes, glassware, and more.”

“They also help us keep the warehouse clean and tidy amongst the constant activity of receiving donations and sending them out to our families and Veterans. We served 486 households this past year with ninety-five of them being Veteran homes. We truly could not do this work without the awesome volunteers from S&T,” she continued.
