Zack Steffen has returned from Europe and headed to Colorado to play for their MLS team.

After four and a half years in Europe, goalkeeper Zack Steffen is returning to the MLS with the Colorado Rapids. Steffen had a $7 million transfer to Manchester City in 2019, writes Jonathan Tannenwald for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Steffen is native to Coatesville and graduated from Downingtown West High School in 2013. He has spent most of his professional career in Europe and is excited to be back in the U.S. upon the birth of his daughter in October 2023.

“Just to be back in the States, closer to family, closer to friends, have them part of my career, just gives me a lot of energy and passion and motivation to come back here,” Steffen said.

With Steffen’s newfound stability in the States and his immense talent, he is slated to lead the Rapids to victory. New manager Chris Armas is elated to have him in their lineup.

“He’s been part of major success, big experiences… but most importantly has been part of good, strong cultures, winning cultures,” Armas said about Steffen. “We expect him to be one of the leaders, one of the driving forces behind our push, and we’re delighted to have Zack.”
