Westtown Moves Closer Toward Finalizing Acquisition of Crebilly Farm
A Natural Lands representative recently informed the Westtown Township supervisors that the organization is nearing finalization of its acquisition of the remaining 206 acres of Crebilly Farm, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.
The total purchase price for the remainder of the farm is $25 million, and the township and Natural Lands have so far managed to raise $22 million. On behalf of taxpayers, Westtown has been collecting funds for purchase.
However, Todd Sampsell, Natural Lands Vice President of Conservation, noted that the originally deadline to acquire the complete funding by March 31 may not be possible. Supervisors and Sampsell then informally suggested extending the time limit by six months, to Sept. 31.
Both the township and Crebilly Farm landowner, the Robinson Family, would have to agree to move the goal date.
“The property owner is happy with the progress,” said Sampsell. “It is in the best interest for him and his family.”
Sampsell added he is hopeful the acquisition will occur as planned.
“There’s nothing negative, but I wish I had more positive news,” he said. “It’s very typical for a large land purchase. It’s like putting a puzzle together. We need to find a few more pieces to the puzzle.”
