The Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance has been awarded $500,000 to build on the last five years of neighborhood plan implementation in the City of Coatesville. A total of $2,000,000 in Neighborhood Planning and Implementation Grants have been awarded by the foundation to 11 organizations throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey.

The Neighborhood Implementation Grants support comprehensive community development plans that target specific neighborhoods, are resident-driven and equity-focused. The multi-year funding is designed to assist the foundation’s grantee partners to start or sustain momentum in their comprehensive neighborhood revitalization initiatives.

“As staunch advocates for vibrant, equitable, and economically resilient neighborhoods, we’re grateful for the Regional Foundation’s commitment to our community-driven Growing Greater initiative,” said Amber Little-Turner, Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance Executive Director. “This generous grant propels us forward on a shared journey towards a brighter, more inclusive future for Coatesville, embodying the Regional Foundation’s dedication to equitable giving.”

2nd Century Alliance’s strategies include fostering resident power through deep engagement, enhanced workforce development programming, mitigation of criminal activities, youth program support, and increased affordable housing opportunities. Through these points of focus, 2nd Century Alliance and Coatesville citizens look to reduce displacement of long-time residents, build a strong youth workforce, increase safety and neighborhood connectedness, and foster a vibrant business community.

“The pressing needs of our community continue to exist and weigh down those who need it most from changing their lives from one of despair to one of hope,” stated Kevin Dow, Executive Director of the Regional Foundation. “We are excited that the investments we are announcing today are a small part of creating the change needed to ensure individuals, families, and whole communities have the resiliency to continue along a path of success.”

The Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance is in the midst of a five-year strategic plan to drive economic development in the City of Coatesville to improve the quality of life and enable the community to thrive. The public/private partnership is funded by local government agencies and private sector contributions.

“The Chester County Economic Development Council, through its foundation, CCEDF, is delighted to once again partner with the County of Chester and 2nd Century Alliance in the delivery of the Regional Foundation, LLC’s Neighborhood Implementation Renewal Grant for the City of Coatesville,” said Michael Grigalonis, President and COO, CCEDC. “We are glad to play a small part in this five-year grant that will assist with comprehensive neighborhood revitalization initiatives that continue to fuel the economic growth of the city.”

“The impact of this partnership extends far beyond the financial support,” said Little-Turner. “It’s a testament to the power of collaborative philanthropy and the belief that, through collective effort, we can build a community that strengthens our residential neighborhoods, empowering our city residents to take ownership of their neighborhoods and their broader community.”
