Immaculata University’s nursing students achieved a remarkable 97.92 percent first-time pass rate on the registered nurse licensure exam, or NCLEX, in the 2022-23 academic year, the most recent year for which data is available. The national NCLEX pass rate for 2022-23 is 90.16 percent.

Immaculata’s nursing students receive extensive support to prepare for the exam, including a personal NCLEX success coach, progress monitoring, assessment testing and strategic review courses, all of which contributed to the high pass rate of nearly eight percentage points above average.

“I am so proud of our students for applying the knowledge learned and being able to achieve a high first-time pass rate on the NCLEX,” said Dr. Suzanne Wurster, Immaculata’s nursing division chair and assistant professor. “The nursing faculty and I worked hard to prepare them not just for the exam, but for holistic nursing practice, and we celebrate their success as they enter the field.”

Immaculata’s nursing students have exceeded the national average NCLEX pass rate for the past seven years and have also achieved high employment rates. At least 94 percent of Immaculata’s 2023 nursing graduates have jobs.

Valerie Canfield completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing this year and is now working at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware. “The faculty truly wanted each of their students to thrive, both academically and emotionally, and even kept in contact after graduation, ensuring I had what I needed to pass the NCLEX on my first attempt,” she said. “I was fortunate enough to have had a wide variety of clinical experiences that eventually led me to my true passion as a neonatal intensive care nurse.”

Immaculata offers an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing to full-time, traditional undergraduates as well as college graduates who want to complete a second bachelor’s degree in an accelerated timeframe of as few as 15 months.
