Driving Away the Cold: Keystone Volvo Donates 300 Winter Coats to West Chester Area School District
West Chester Area School District has received 300 new winter coats from Keystone Volvo as part of the annual Driving Away the Cold campaign, writes Holly Herman for the West Chester Patch.
Home and School visitors are currently in the process of sorting through the donated coats so they can be distributed to economically disadvantaged students within the district.
“We consider it a privilege to collaborate with Keystone Volvo,” said Patricia Alston, social district coordinator.
Alston added that out of the district’s nearly 12,000 students, close to 19 percent are economically disadvantaged.
“Equipping our students in need with brand-new winter coats enables them to step into school, fully prepared to learn and to embrace the winter season, free from concerns about essential warmth,” she said.
Keystone Volvo’s general manager Benjamin Stein said the company is proud to be able to keep children in need in the West Chester Area School District warm.
Driving Away the Cold campaign started in 2008. It is coordinated by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation.
