West Vincent Husband and Wife On a Mission to Bring Fallen Leaves to New Heights

By

West Vincent wife-and-husband Donna Delany and David Weber are on a mission to raise awareness among their neighbors over a better way to deal with fallen leaves, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6ABC.

The couple, who have been together for 14 years and have their own musical duo, are truly passionate about caring for the environment.

“Leaves are a valuable resource and the whole nature community depends on them,” said Delany. “And as a human, I was taught to rake them up, put them in a plastic bag, and put them out in the garbage.”

Now, however, if she sees bags of leaves in the trash close to her home, she takes them and dumps them along the brush on the Backyard Nature Preserve.

At the preserve, which she owns, she then invites community members to demonstrate how to better care for the environment and gives them a model of how to keep their own leaves.

Even if they do not have the space to properly house their leaves, she welcomes everybody who has the time to drop them off at the preserve.
