Wegmans has partnered with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Wegmans, with locations in Downingtown and Malvern, has recently stepped into the local sports sponsorship scene by signing on to be the official grocer of Philadelphia Flyers, writes Ryan Sharrow for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Yet as per the deal, there will be Wegmans signage in the Wells Fargo Center as well as several promotions with Flyers Charities.

The grocer and the Flyers will establish Food & Fridges, a program that will provide new branded refrigerators and food for local schools to make it possible for students participating in sports to access healthy snacks. The first school to benefit from the new program will be Penn Wood High School in Lansdowne.

Additionally, Wegmans will become the presenting partner for the already existing Flyers Recess program. The free school assembly program launched last season to help Philadelphia-area kids stay healthy and active as they learn life skills such as teamwork and determination.

Wegmans will also be present at the upcoming Gritty 5K, one of the marquee fundraising events of Flyers Charities.

Wegmans has a total of nine stores in the Philadelphia area.
