Best Friends from Malvern Work to Get Kids Involved in Their Communities

Two best friends from Malvern are teaching kids to get involved in their communities from a young age using, among other things, flying colors, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6ABC.

Christine Correale and Stephanie Edginton run The Sunday Kids: East Coast. The nonprofit organization holds monthly kid-friendly events that benefit the community.

“We really wanted to instill the volunteerism in kids as young as possible, just so that they can grow up and continue to volunteer in the communities and make it a better place,” said the organization’s treasurer Correale.

Edginton serves as the nonprofit’s president.

“Last fall, we were looking to get our kids involved in community service around the area, and there really wasn’t anything for youth, like elementary school age,” she said.

The pair wanted to change that so they decided to take over The Sunday Kids: East Coast from Edginton’s sister-in-law, who started the organization before the pandemic.

This month, they organized the first Fun Color Run. Proceeds from the event went to their organization and another nonprofit, Sneakers for Soldiers. Their goal is to make this an annual tradition.
