Nestled in the heart of Malvern, The Fern & Fable is a charming restaurant occupying a meticulously restored 1700s farmhouse, writes Marilyn Johnson for Philly Grub.

This restaurant offers not only a delightful dining experience but also plays a pivotal role in supporting one of the largest professional nonprofit theaters in the state – People’s Light.

What truly sets The Fern & Fable apart is the culinary expertise of Chef Abigail Morris, who joined the restaurant in September 2022.

Her menu features farm-to-table favorites, with herbs collected directly from the onsite garden. One standout dish is Morris’ duck breast entrée, featuring locally raised duck paired with Thyme for Grapefruit and Gin, crafted using liquor from Brandywine Branch Distillers of Elverson

The menu also caters to various dietary preferences, offering gluten-free and vegetarian options with unique ingredients in each dish.

The cocktail menu at The Fern & Fable is equally enticing, with offerings like the unique “Sage Fig Cocktail” and the relished “Salted Caramel Espresso Martini.”

Adding to the enchantment, The Fern & Fable hosts live music every Thursday evening, making it a perfect spot for a night of entertainment and fine dining. Theater subscribers of People’s Light can also enjoy exclusive discounts.
