Rivertown Taps allows you to self-serve your own beer to enjoy with your food.

After it took over the former Franco Ristorante on Bridge Street in Phoenixville a year ago, Rivertown Taps quickly amassed a sizable fanbase, writes Ed Williams for Main Line Today.

The spot was the overwhelming winner for Best Appetizers and Best New Restaurant in Main Line Today’s 2023 Best of the Main Line & Western Suburbs Awards.

The beer joint has a wall of self-serve taps, with 36 available inside and six more outside when it is nice weather. In addition to beer, you can pour yourself wine, cider, and mead as well as a nonalcoholic selection of Baba’s Brew kombucha.

“I liked the idea of combining the social aspect of beer lovers sharing conversation at the wall while also having access to my locally procured menu,” said owner and chef Lewis Leiterman.

Leiterman partnered with fiancée Tess Strayer and her parents to bring this concept to Phoenixville.

The spot offers a seasonal menu with innovative presentations. All of the food tastes as good as it looks. Highlights include Delaware clingstone peach with fresh burrata, as well as grilled royal trumpet mushrooms and beer-battered cheddar-cheese Mexican street curds.
