Hankin Group hosted an event of appreciation on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at River Station to celebrate the remarkable transformation of the former Sonoco paper mill property into a stunning transit-oriented residential and commercial complex in Downingtown. The event was attended by community leaders, government officials, and key project contributors to recognize the accomplishments of River Station’s Phase I completion and ongoing progress of this exceptional development.

The event kicked off with the River Station clubhouse and model open for tours, allowing guests to experience the luxurious amenities and modern designs that River Station has to offer. Guests were treated to coffee provided by Twin Valley Coffee, a future River Station tenant set to open its doors next month.

The formal program began with welcoming remarks from distinguished speakers. Bob Hankin, CEO of Hankin Group, expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts of Downingtown Borough, PennDOT, SEPTA, East Caln Township, and officials from Chester County, emphasizing their instrumental role in the substantial achievement of the River Station project.

Josh Maxwell, Chester County Commissioner, expressed his enthusiasm for the River Station project, highlighting it as a significant economic opportunity for the town. He credited the hard work of Downingtown Borough council members in swiftly gaining project approval and shared his personal experience of commuting to Downingtown from Philadelphia, where he observed thriving developments surrounding SEPTA train stations and wished for the same attention for Downingtown’s station.

Maxwell emphasized that River Station, with its unique features like proximity to a SEPTA station and connection to the Chester Valley trail, “is an invaluable asset to both Chester County residents and the community.”

Additional speakers who addressed the audience included Chester County Commissioner Marian Moskowitz, Downingtown Mayor Phil Dague, East Caln Township Supervisor Chuck DeLone, and President & COO of the Chester County Economic Development Council, Michael Grigalonis. They each recounted their individual encounters with the River Station project and extended their appreciation to fellow project collaborators.

This event successfully honored the dedication and hard work of those who played a pivotal role in bringing the River Station project to life.

Following the successful completion of Phase I, River Station has already seen a significant influx of residents. For more information about River Station, visit River Station Downingtown.
