Popular Chili Cook-off Returns to West Chester on Sunday
The popular Chili Cook-off will draw thousands of people to West Chester on Sunday when 50 chili teams will compete for the title of “The Best Chili in Chester County,” according to a staff report from the Daily Local News.
Visitors will get to sample many different chilies prepared by competing teams.
This will be the 21st Chili Cook-off, sponsored by the Rotary Club of West Chester, but for the first time, it will feature a 50/50 Chili Pepper Drop.
A maximum of 2,500 little foam chili peppers will be sold for $10 each. Those who purchase either one or more peppers will get a unique number that will be inscribed on all of the peppers they buy.
At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Fame Fire Company will lift all of the peppers in the air over Jack’s Plaza at Church & Gay Streets and then open the Super Bag filled with them over a specially designed target. The owner of the first pepper that hits the bullseye will get half of the collected funds, which can be up to $12,500. The rest will go to charity.
