Phillies' pitcher Aaron Nola really enjoys Vetri Cucina.

The Philadelphia Phillies are just like the rest of us when it comes to their favorite Philly food spots, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer

For pitchers Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler, Philadelphia’s popular Italian restaurant Vetri Cucina is among their favorite restaurants.

Wheeler is also a fan of the Asian-inspired bar restaurant Cheu Fishtown and Tacconelli’s Pizzeria in Port Richmond.

Fishtown is the location of Nola’s other favorites; namely, Japanese restaurant Hiroki and Lebanon-inspired Suraya. Additional favorites include Double Knot, Barbuzzo, and Butcher & Singer in Center City.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson is a fan of the Italian steakhouse Saloon in Bella Vista, while catcher Garrett Stubbs favors Barclay Prime in Rittenhouse Square

Phillies players are no stranger to the city’s vast food scene.

Beyond having their favorites, some players have unique stories in connection to some of Philadelphia’s food establishments.

For example, Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick started dating his wife when she owned GiGi bar in Old City, while Pat Burrell often spent many nights at The Irish Pub in Rittenhouse Square before it was shut down, as well as the Continental in Old City and the Pen & Pencil Club in Center City.
