Chester County is full of great places where you can get delicious versions of the foods deemed as best to eat in Pennsylvania by Food Network, writes James Wesser for abc27. 

First on the list is tomato pie, a simple pizza-esque snack that consists of a crust, red sauce, and some cheese. You can get it in many bakeries and pizzerias across Chester County. 

Pierogies are dumplings with potato filling that are popular throughout the state. They can also be filled with potato, cheese, sauerkraut, and mushrooms. 

Tastykakes is a beloved Pennsylvania bakery that makes delicious Cupkakes, Krimpets, and much more. 

Next on the list is Wilbur’s Chocolate. The famous Wilbur’s Buds predate even the iconic Hershey Kisses. The central Pennsylvania-based chocolate company has a large store in nearby Lancaster County. 

With half of America’s mushrooms grown in Kennett Square, it is therefore no surprise that mushroom strudel is included among the state’s best foods. Some versions of the pastry use multiple types of mushrooms as a filling. 

Shoofly pie, scrapple, and the iconic Philly cheesesteak also made the list.
