This Coffee Roaster in Coatesville Does Good for Planet While Offering Assortment of Great Coffee Flavors

By

Máquina Coffee Roasters in Coatesville offers an assortment of coffee flavors that taste great and it also does good for the planet, writes Wendy Daughenbaugh for 6ABC.

Other than using the roaster, owner Gabriel Boscana does nearly everything by hand in 15-pound batches.

Along with his assistant, he watches the clock, makes sure the temperature remains at the ideal levels, and listens carefully for the sounds that signal that the beans are starting to caramelize. He then cups every roasted batch to make sure there is a consistency of flavor in every cup.

Boscana is a Puerto Rican native who moved to New York when he was eight. He got his first coffee shop job over two decades ago, and something immediately clicked. He decided to learn more about the people and communities who grow the beans.

He began his roasting operation in his garage in 2016 and four years later, he moved into the Coatesville space.

In the future, he plans to open a service window as part of his Latino and LGBTQ-owned business to sell coffee directly out of the space.
