The Arc of Chester County enters the final phase of 70th Anniversary Campaign

By

The Arc of Chester County has participated in many civil and human rights movements which have helped to make opportunities available to individuals with disabilities and their families.

While the organization has undergone a few name changes throughout its history, it is now known as The Arc of Chester County, serving over 3,100 individuals and families annually from Chester County and the surrounding areas.

The Arc of Chester County is a leading advocacy organization and provider of a lifetime of programs and services for individuals with disabilities and their families.

In 2022, The Arc of Chester County publicly launched a capital campaign to celebrate and honor their 70th Anniversary.

To date, with the support of the community, corporations, and foundations, The Arc 70th Anniversary campaign has raised nearly $1.4 million.

Most recently, The Arc received two transformative gifts as the campaign enters its final phase. The Arc received word from the Philadelphia Foundation that The Arc of Chester County was the beneficiary of a restricted bequest of $392,861 from Florence Scarcella to support the Children’s Early Learning Support Program.

In addition, The Arc received a $62,000 grant from the Welfare Foundation in early August, which supports completing a full restroom renovation in the Inclusive Preschool wing of the facility.

Gifts to the 70th Anniversary Campaign will ensure that The Arc of Chester County’s facility remains a beautiful, safe, and comfortable space for staff, our community, and individuals with disabilities and their families to come, enjoy events, learn, and socialize.

These gifts will also keep The Arc of Chester County a top provider of service delivery for individuals with disabilities and their families for decades to come.

As The Arc enters the final phase of its 70th Anniversary Campaign, the focus will be on funding a full renovation of its outdoor inclusive playground, which was built 23 years ago.

Built behind the building and on a hill, the existing playground has experienced much deterioration and erosion over the last two decades. A new playground space, surface area, and adaptive equipment are expected to cost approximately $230,000.

Learning knows no bounds at The Arc as it seeks to develop each individual or child in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Over the decades, technology has advanced, and new adaptive equipment has been created to help improve the lives of those with disabilities.

An updated outdoor play space with the most advanced offerings will support those with different mobility, emotional, neurological, and intellectual disabilities.
