Sydney Grims, director of business development for Fearless Restaurants, created Fearless Femmes events to inspire and empower women. Supporting other women is important to the fourth-generation Main Line restaurateur who is the first female in her family to go into the business, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

Her great-grandfather owned restaurants in Lackawanna County, her grandfather owned the Central Tavern in downtown Philadelphia, and her father founded Fearless Restaurants.

In her role at Fearless Restaurants, Grims oversees such restaurants as Rosalie, White Dog Café, and Autograph Brasserie.

“There’s definitely pressure to uphold a legacy. There’s pressure to not disappoint really everybody from the community to our team, our directors. There’s pressure to personally grow with my leadership skills in order to, at some point, fill very big shoes,” she said.

Fearless Femmes is a new project by Fearless Restaurants spearheaded by Grims to strengthen women’s voices, allow them to focus more on themselves and their goals instead of the societal pressures they may feel weighing on them.

The events feature conversations with women who are leaders in their field whether the business or nonprofit world, or who have inspiring personal stories to share.

The events are typically held once a month. The next one, held in collaboration with Philly Fashion Incubator, is on Oct. 23 at Rosalie in Wayne.

Featured guests will include designers Julie Pierre, Jeanette Limas, Taliah Mateen and Elmira Vanderberg.
