Exton’s Saint Philip and James School is among eight Philadelphia area schools that have been awarded the 2023 National Blue Ribbon, writes Ryan Sharrow for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

This year, 353 schools were recognized nationally with the award. Each year, the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools Program evaluates academic performance and progress in closing achievement gaps.

The Exton Catholic school serves Pre-K to Eighth Grade and has a history of rigorous academics, Spanish, and a fine arts program. It also has hands-on-learning amenities such as a state-of-the-art science lab according to its website.

The school received accreditation in 1982 and was first awarded a Blue Ribbon for the 1989 to 1990 academic year.

It has a reputation for being a small, tight-knit community and a nurturing environment for kids to learn.

Other nearby winners include Central Bucks High School-East in Doylestown and Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary in Ambler.
