Sylvester Stallone, the iconic actor who played Rocky Balboa, recently visited the ‘Rocky Steps’ near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, writes Angel Saunders for People.

Last week, Stallone, along with his wife Jennifer Flavin, and brother Frank, were pictured standing in front of the steps in which Stallone’s Rocky character made his iconic jog during his boxing training sessions throughout the series.

While the steps are well-known to Philadelphia natives and Rocky fans alike, they hold value for the Stallone family, as well.

Frank Stallone noted in an Instagram post that the steps also featured as a backdrop to a July 4th concert he held with The Beach Boys in 1985. He also previously lived just across the street from the steps.

Since the first Rocky film was released in 1976, the Balboa character has been synonymous with the city of Philadelphia.

The character has become a symbol for overcoming challenges and the underdog mentality.

In 1982, before the release of Rocky III, a two-ton, 10-foot-tall bronze statue of Rocky was created, and now sits at the bottom of the steps outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
