Mo’ne Davis, the former Little League star from Philadelphia, is still charging ahead as she starts graduate school at Columbia University, writes Wayne Coffey for The New York Times.

Davis took the sports world by storm in 2014 thanks to her 71-mile-per-hour fastballs and sweeping curveballs as she pitched for Philadelphia’s Taney Dragons in the Little League World Series.

Nine years later, Davis is getting ready to start her pursuit of a master’s degree at the only graduate sports management program in the Ivy League. She is undoubtedly the only student to take part in the program who has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated and won an ESPY, as well as written a book. She has also starred in a Spike Lee-directed commercial and met Barack and Michelle Obama in the White House.

Studying sports management at Columbia University is just the latest stop in her high-achieving journey.

“I always believed that nobody can tell you you can’t do something,” said Davis.

In the future, she hopes to be part of an ownership group that would bring a WNBA or National Women’s Soccer League franchise to Philadelphia.
