The owner of a West Chester-based Malena’s Vintage Boutique has a love of vintage clothes that dates back to when she was just twelve years old, writes staff for eBay.

Malena Martinez said that she started selling curated pieces when she was studying fashion design and business at the Pratt Institute in New York.

In present day, Malena’s Vintage Boutique exists both in brick-and-mortar and online.  

Martinez opened the boutique in 2003, which uses locally sourced items. But it wasn’t until 2006 that she took her business online. Her eBay store soon took off and she gained an international audience.  

She’s sold items to stylists at companies like Urban Outfitters and Free People as well as TV shows and featured films. She says that those aspiring to launch their own eBay store should stick with it and use as many photos as possible.  

“Being part of this community is like having an extended family. Especially when you’re in the niche world of vintage clothing and jewelry and antiques. Having a shop on eBay allows us to share that love and converse with people all over the place,” says Martinez.
