Doylestown Estate With Historic Mill Incorporated Into Main Home Hits Market for $3.995 Million
An 18th-century Doylestown estate situated on almost ten lovely acres on the site of a historic mill that has been incorporated into the main home has hit the market for $3.995 million, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Shelly Mill was originally built in the 1770s and has seen several renovations and additions over the years. In fact, this impressive home now includes six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
The property, which is nestled along Watson Creek, also includes a pool, a detached outbuilding with a pottery studio, and a summer kitchen, along with a four-car garage.
The interior boasts exposed beams and stone and wood paneling throughout. In addition, there are many other attractive details, including the reclaimed stained glass windows and several historic artifacts that span the home’s lifetime. This includes glass that is said to have come from the original Philadelphia Opera House.
Still, the preserved mill room is the outstanding feature of the home.
“You pinch yourself every time you wake up here, it’s that spectacular,” said Steven Trachtenberg, who currently owns the home with his wife Fiona.
