Thousands enjoyed their time at the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival despite tight security for a manhunt.

The 38th Annual Mushroom Festival was once again a huge success, drawing thousands from all across the region and beyond to Kennett Square despite tight security due to the search for escaped convict Danelo Cavalcante, writes Marcus Espinoza for FOX29 Philadelphia.

The traditional event featured mushrooms in just about any form imaginable.

This included Good Time Coffee, which featured several blends of coffee using the popular fungus at its stand.

“I guess you could call me head fungi!” said Good Time Coffee owner Justin Moser. “Essentially, it helps your brain health, it helps adapt against Alzheimer’s, dementia, helps your gut health.”

Meanwhile, Aimee Oxley, owner of Talula’s Table, was overjoyed to see that the festival had managed to go ahead amid the manhunt.

“It’s good!” said Oxley. “I mean, we’re eager to see it come to an end, but we’re also really very thrilled about all the work that is going on for it. Everyone’s out and about like normal!”
