Football players at Coatesville High School received CPR training earlier this week teaching them how to spot cardiac arrest and how to act if such a situation arises, writes Marcus Espinoza for FOX29 Philadelphia

“You never know where it could happen, but it could happen, here, on the field, somewhere outside,” said Coatesville senior Amir Haskett.

There is currently heightened focus on cardiac arrests in football due to several high-profile cases, such as Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, that brought attention to the issue.

The training at Coatesville High School was organized by Aidan’s Heart Foundation, an organization founded by Christy Marshall-Silva, who lost her son to cardiac arrest when he was just 7.

“I just felt conviction, particularly once I learned how preventable death from cardiac arrest is by following three simple steps: call 911, start CPR, apply AED,” said Marshall-Silva.
