Downingtown Sixth Graders Learn Impactful CPR, AED Skills

By

Downingtown sixth graders are taking safety into their own hands, literally. The students are receiving training to become certified in CPR and AED use. A local non-profit, Aidan’s Heart, assists in the training, writes Hank Flynn for FOX29.

The non-profit was founded by Christy Marshall-Silva who lost her 12-year-old son, Aidan to cardiac arrest. It’s considered the “number one killer” of young student athletes.

The class is taught by other students, including 16-year-old Macy Kulp. She said this is a huge opportunity for students to get involved in learning CPR.

“There’s such a power there for the kids to take a strong role in helping each other and helping our community. And I think that’s just really impactful and powerful,” she says.
