The Association of Pickleball Players is planning to make a tour stop in Berwyn later this month for the APP Philadelphia Open, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The event will take place at Upper Main Line YMCA from Aug. 23 to 27.

The Association of Pickleball Players serves professionals, senior professionals, and amateurs. The 2023 APP Tour is the only officially sanctioned tour by USA Pickleball. It features 16 stops along with international and collegiate series events.

Last year’s APP Philadelphia Open was also held at the same venue in Berwyn and featured over 400 players.

“In 2022 the APP was very warmly welcomed by the pickleball community throughout Philadelphia, and we are already seeing an increase in participation and attendance numbers for our return in 2023,” said Tom Webb, APP’s chief marketing officer.

He added that the new sport continues to grow dramatically, “so we are not surprised to see increasing interest in our events year on year, but the pickleball community in Philadelphia is particularly strong, so we’re excited to be back.”
