In August, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine welcomed Tim Irwin to the Upper Main Line YMCA in Berwyn to lead its pickleball program. Irwin has previously worked for the organization in a part-time capacity and will now transition into a full-time role, as requests for programming and private lessons have continued to skyrocket.

This fall the YMCA will begin offering youth pickleball camps, new social events such as Friday evening ladder play as well as competitive ladder play on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, clinics for all levels and tournaments.

“We are thrilled that Tim was interested in joining us as a full-time employee. He is a skilled coach and athlete, incredibly passionate about this great sport and his talents will continue to help us expand the impact of our pickleball program to our community,” said Jackie Canan, Association Senior Director of Group Exercise, Pickleball and Virtual Delivery.

Irwin holds several certifications, Level II International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA), Elite Professional and Pickleball Coach Developer for United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Middle States Division and has won numerous awards including USPTA – Middle States Hall of Fame member, USPTA – Middle States President and 2021 Keystone State Pickleball Championship Gold Medalist.

Irwin is also a proud member of Brothers and Sisters of Charity and St. Vincent De Paul.

Currently, Irwin is leading a variety of programs at the Upper Main Line YMCA including events, lessons, tournaments and more. To learn more about our growing pickleball program, please visit ymcagbw.org/pickleball.
