Conestoga High School Grad Carves Name for Herself as Indie-Rock Artist
Conestoga High School graduate and former School of Rock student Molly Martin has carved herself a niche as an indie-rock artist, writes Hobart Rowland for Main Line Today.
Martin left her hometown on the Main Line for Tulane University, but it did not take her long to decide to transfer to Nashville’s Belmont University where she could continue honing her musical talents.
Today, she is busy carving out a niche for herself as a flamboyant indie-rock artist in a city that is known around the globe for country music.
“It took years for me to really trust myself as the person at the helm of my own career and developing my own voice,” said Martin.
Her choice of music style might be unusual for the city she lives in, but she is determined to stay the course.
“I feel there’s a lane for me here, but I’ve definitely had to carve it out,” she said. “Obviously that lane is much different from the country lane. But that’s been me my whole life. It’s always been sort of DYI.”
