The brains behind a Devon home listed for $2.95 million is Main Line architect Paul Bloomfield whose style is transforming traditional buildings into the modern age.

Bloomfield keeps the foundations of the properties he overhauls but brings 1800s homes into the 21st century, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The architect, who is a 25-year veteran cabinet maker, builds homes around the Main Line. The latest project at 404 Dorset Road in Devon is 5,500 square feet, with five bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. He takes about a year to build his projects, following obtaining a permit.

The Devon home is being marketed by his wife Mia Bloomfield, who is a broker at Compass. Most of his homes include natural light and wood finishes, with wide open spaces.

“I always liked residential work, it means more to people,” Bloomfield said. “People’s homes are important to them, that’s been the bulk of my practice.”
