Stacey Fuller, a native of upstate New York, is the Managing Partner at Gawthrop Greenwood, where she practices in the areas of Municipal Law, Land Use Law, Education Law, and Special Education Law.

Fuller, who earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh, credits Tim Finan, a family law attorney in Goldsboro, N.C., with having the biggest impact on her career.

“Tim was one of my first law partners and a calming force in a stressful practice area who was a wonderful mentor and friend to me,” said Fuller. “He taught me the skills I needed to be a good attorney, but more importantly, he taught me that it was important to stay focused at all times on my family and keeping perspective in this profession. He was a wonderful family man who was very active with his children but who still worked hard and made the time to mentor the young associates at the firm. Tim also taught me that adopting a temperament of calm leadership is important even in the sea of chaos that can surround us at times.”

Fuller’s proudest professional achievement was being named Gawthrop Greenwood’s Managing Partner on Jan. 1.

“I am honored to be at the helm during this extraordinary time in our firm’s expansion of services,” she said. “I’ve had the opportunity to be involved with some of Chester County’s most high-profile land development and zoning matters during a period of historic growth for the region, representing municipalities, townships, boroughs, planning commissions, and zoning hearing boards, as well as individual developers and residents.”

Fuller shared her perspective on what makes a successful leader.

“They demonstrate leadership not only in their workplace but also in their community,” she said. “Community service and giving back to the community is a focus not only for me but one that we emphasize as one of our core values at Gawthrop Greenwood. From sending our attorneys to the Leadership Chester County program, to encouraging nonprofit board involvement, and making every effort to recognize our responsibility to give back to a community that has given so much to us for over 100 years. It is our lasting legacy at Gawthrop Greenwood, and we endeavor to live it every day.”

Of the 12 Principles of the Scout Law — Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent — Loyal and Kind resonate the most with Fuller.

“I endeavor to be loyal and kind, and I seek out those qualities in my colleagues, clients, and friends,” she said. “Aided by a commitment to loyalty and kindness, I have witnessed incredible business and community growth in Chester County over the years. I also value professional courtesy — a concept that I view as critical to maintaining civility in our legal profession. Treating each other professionally with kindness and respect goes a long way to creating a much happier career — and life.”

The Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America will honor Fuller and the 11 other BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars at an awards reception on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at its new Program, Activity, and Resource Campus (PARC) in Exton. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, contact Kristin Conran at kristin.conran@scouting.org.
