Deadline Extended to Submit Nominations for 2023 Class of BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars

The deadline to nominate an individual for the third annual class of BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars has been extended to June 8.

In 2021, VISTA Today began partnering with the Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America to present BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars, an initiative that recognizes 12 leaders who are shaping Chester County’s future through their character, service, vision, courage, passion, and humility.

This year’s edition will culminate with an awards reception on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Chester County Council’s new Program, Activity, and Resource Campus (PARC) in Exton.

Through Scouting, youth develop leadership and citizenship skills that influence their lives as adults. Scouting offers programs and activities that allow youth to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards, preparing them for lives of leadership and helping to develop life-long habits of service to our community.

BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars embody the 12 principles of the Scout Law:

• Trustworthy
• Loyal
• Helpful
• Friendly
• Courteous
• Kind
• Obedient
• Cheerful
• Thrifty
• Brave
• Clean
• Reverent

A committee will evaluate the nominations and select the BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars based on the following criteria:

• Leadership (public profile, reputation)
• Business success (financial results, career milestones)
• Community involvement (volunteer work, advocacy)
• Influence (impact on their community, company, industry, or on Chester County’s overall quality of place)

In addition to the BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars, the Chester County Council will honor one individual with its Distinguished Citizen Award. This award goes to someone who has wide influence in the professional community and who has provided significant and enduring contributions to society.
