Michele Gargiulo, a sommelier at Jean-Georges, the award-winning restaurant in Philadelphia, has published a new book filled with advice for wine lovers, writes Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Tonight.

Gargiulo returned to the restaurant inside the Four Seasons Hotel recently. She was its sommelier before it had to close temporarily due to the city’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts. Gargiulo spent the years in between as the wine and beverage manager for Fearless Restaurants.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Gargiulo is a member of the Guild of Sommeliers. Her previous book, Pairing Paws, became a bestseller on Amazon. The new book, How To Build A Wine List, will be released later this year. It is, in essence, a self-help book for people who work in the restaurant business.

“This book is meant to educate and empower people in the hospitality business who want to learn about creating a wine list,” said Gargiulo.

The book can also be interesting reading for people who want to boost their at-home wine collections, as well as its sequel that the prolific author is currently writing.

“It’s called How to Read a Wine List,” she said.
