De La Terre BYOB, which opened in December 2022, brings upscale French flair to Downingtown in an elegant space that is the perfect setting for its mouthwatering dining, writes Ed Williams for Main Line Today

The establishment is owned by Andrew Hufnagel and Kassie Fetzer, who recently got engaged. They met in State College while working at the former Zola Kitchen & Wine Bar. Now, they have managed to fulfill their dream of opening their own upscale French-inspired experience in Downingtown.

“We’ve enjoyed living in the area for the past two years,” said Fetzer. “The local dining community has embraced us.”

The space that was once home to Pat’s Pizza, has been reimagined. It now features sculpted ceiling tiles, padded chairs, and work from local artists.

Most of their food is sourced in Pennsylvania, including cheeses from the Farm at Doe Run and lamb from Elysian Fields Farm. They offer a French and modern American menu that utilizes classic cooking techniques while also demonstrating their personal flair.

Some of the many highlights include oeufs mimosa (three deviled eggs topped with Osetra caviar), tuna tartare, the escargot, foie gras mousse, and oysters.
