Albertson's Mid-Atlantic division president Jim Perkins will lead planning efforts for the Kroger merger.

The former president of Malvern-based Acme Markets is taking on a new position. Jim Perkins who is currently leading parent company Albertson’s Mid-Atlantic division, has been handpicked to help with its merger with Kroger, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The $24.6 million merger between the two grocery store giants will rebrand as SpinCo. Currently, the merger is still in its early stages. It is undergoing review by the Federal Trade Commission.

Perkins has over 30 years of experience in the industry, dating back to 1982. He’s been the president of Albertson’s Mid-Atlantic division in September of 2020.

Following the merger, Kroger will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Albertsons. The deal is set to close in early 2024.
