Paddle down the scenic Brandywine River for a great cause.

The Cerebral Palsy Association of Chester County invites the public to participate in the 38th Annual Northbrook Canoe Challenge & Duck Race on Saturday, May 6.

The Canoe Challenge is 9.5-miles long and takes approximately three hours to complete. The day begins with a shuttle to Mortonville from the Northbrook Canoe Company in West Chester. The Challenge begins at 12 PM and is open to people of all skill levels, and families are encouraged to participate.

Prior to the Canoe Challenge, take a chance at winning the Rubber Duck Race, which is always a fun way for children to participate, at 10:30 AM.

“We thank all of the participants, volunteers, and sponsors who make it a fun day to paddle down the Brandywine for great cause,” said Margaret Rybinski, Executive Director of the Cerebral Palsy Association of Chester County.

The Exton-based nonprofit serves people with not only Cerebral Palsy but a variety of physical disabilities, like spinal cord injuries and multiple sclerosis. It also provides services to people with brain injuries and autism. Its Children’s Early Intervention program provides comprehensive services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays. The organization’s vision is an accessible community where every child has educational success and developmental growth and adults with disabilities live as independently as possible.

“We would like to thank our wonderful corporate sponsors: Buckley Brion McGuire & Morris LLP; Highland Orchards; Krapf Bus Group; Meridian Bank; NFP; Soft Dig Underground Services; and Team Toyota Glen Mills,” said Rybinski. “And we couldn’t have the event without our volunteers, including Northbrook Canoe Company, the Chester County Dive Teams, Emergency Services Amateur Radio Operators, Good Fellowship Ambulance, and our employees and Board of Directors.”

The deadline to register for the event is Friday, May 5.

More information and registration for the Northbrook Canoe Challenge & Duck Race is available at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Chester County.
