Two Chesco Beers Among Most Important American Craft Beers Ever Brewed
Two beers produced by Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown have made their way onto the 25 Most Important American Craft Beers Ever Brewed list by Food & Wine.
The highest rated is Victory Prima Pils in ninth place. Victory released the beer in 1996 and to many, it came as an absolute revelation. It was a pilsner that burst with herbal hop flavors that break down into piney, tongue-tickling bitterness. The beer ended up becoming the signature pils of the craft beer movement.
Victory HopDevil IPA, Victory’s flagship beer when it opened, also made the list at No. 24 as an explosively hoppy beer that “essentially broke Philadelphia” in 1996, said Brendan Hartranft, co-owner of Philly bars Local 44, Strangelove’s, and Clarkville.
