Laine and Elizabeth McGurk, twin seniors at Bayard Rustin High School, are both headed to Division I programs in their respective sports: basketball and lacrosse, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Laine will be playing for the women’s basketball team next year at Drexel University, while Elizabeth will be competing on the lacrosse team at Saint Joseph’s

The sisters have spent their entire lives doing things together, including playing the same sports, so parting ways for their new schools will be an adjustment for the pair.

“Our relationship as teammates and sisters is really similar,” Liz said. “When we’re not on the court, we’ll be best friends, then we’ll also get in an argument. We do the same thing on the court. We’re just so close.”

They were also quick to credit each other for instilling confidence that helped them grow into the athletes they are today.

“It’s going to be very sad to not share the court with [Liz] after this year,” said Laine. “But I have a lot of great memories from playing with her because it’s been a really fun four years.”
