West Chester resident and historian Irwin Gellman has released his new book, “Campaign of the Century.” The political analysis ponders whether John F. Kennedy stole the election from Richard Nixon in 1960.

The New York Times writer Jeff Sheshol finds that the piece to be more Nixon friendly.

“Books of this kind are fewer, to be sure, than books by Kennedy partisans, but Gellman’s is hardly alone on the shelf,” he writes.

Gellman’s historical piece is published by Yale University Press. This would not be his first published work; his first three books provide insights into the FDR administration, and his previous two cover the impact of Dwight Eisenhower’s presidency.

The Philadelphia-born author earned his doctorate in diplomatic history from Indiana University. He taught at the University of California, Irvine and Morgan State college where he served as a dean. A political scholar, he was a research fellow at the California State Library.

Gellman has also given speeches on his political insights throughout the country, and has appeared in documentaries.
