For many, the Easter season is a time of celebration and rebirth. In some areas of Chester County, buying new Easter outfits and filling baskets can add financial strain. This concept birthed Partners in Outreach (PIO) 13 years ago, and the non-profit is still adapting to serve the community’s needs today.

In prior years, Partners in Outreach volunteers brought supplies into schools where students would assemble Easter baskets. This year the assembly became an opportunity for unity. On Feb. 24 and 25, six schools and organizations filled over 1,600 Easter baskets. The space and assembly tables for the event were donated by CTDI and allowed for seamless setup and execution of the service day.

Students from Bishop Shanahan High School, St. Maximilian Kolbe JV parish basketball team, Villa Maria Academy Lower School, Malvern Preparatory School, Villa Maria Academy High School, Devon Preparatory School, and St Patrick Elementary School generously donated their weekend time and joined together to make a difference. Partners in Outreach provided new books, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, small toys, and school supplies, while students contributed water bottles and healthy snacks.

What’s next for the Easter baskets? The baskets will be paired with new Easter outfits purchased by PIO and many generously donated by the community. The recipient organizations include St. Agnes Day Room in West Chester, CYWA in Coatesville, Bridge Academy in Coatesville,  St. Anne Parish in Phoenixville, Home of the Sparrow in Exton, ABBA Safe Haven in Philadelphia, Chester County Women’s Services in Kennett Square, Coatesville, and West Chester, Young Mothers in Kennett Square, St. Rocco’s Parish and mission in Avondale, and Friends Association, West Chester.

There is still time to get involved in Operation Easter outfit 2023. Sign up to purchase an outfit for a child.
