For the past seven years, The Arc of Chester County’s employees and board members have come together to collect food donations for its nonprofit neighbor and partner, the West Chester Area Senior Center.

Once again, this year 600 pounds of food were proudly collected!

“The Arc is delighted to organize this food drive each year to support the West Chester Area Senior Center’s participants –some of which are individuals we mutually serve,” said Arc CEO Jeanne Meikrantz,

“Our employees and board members really enjoy donating the food to the Center and they provide such a wonderful service and benefit to our community.

“We look forward to continuing to support the great work being done at the West Chester Area Senior Center.”

Founded in 1975, the West Chester Area Senior Center is an independent nonprofit organization chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Center’s mission is “Enriching the lives of our senior neighbors through friendship, activities, education, and nourishment.”

The West Chester Area Senior Center opened its Corner Cabinet food distribution during the pandemic to help keep seniors safe and to ease the stigma associated with food insecurity for them.

Having the Corner Cabinet allows seniors to pick up the items that they need while visiting with their friends at the Center and enjoying other activities it has to offer.

Food donations like the annual ones from The Arc of Chester County help to support this amazing initiative which has now distributed over 300,000 meals.

“The Arc of Chester County has been such an amazing steward of our mission. They are truly fantastic neighbors and friends whom we value tremendously,” said Kathy Sullivan, West Chester Area Senior Center Executive Director.

“It is organizations like The Arc and our many other community friends that make all the difference in providing food to the seniors in our community. We could not be more grateful for the partnership with The Arc of Chester County.”
