Aqua Pennsylvania announced that it has invested $2 million in main replacement projects in West Chester Borough and East Bradford and Birmingham townships. This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to improve service and reliability for customers throughout Chester County.

Crews recently began working on a $1 million project to replace 3,200 feet of aging 6-inch cast iron pipe with new 8-inch ductile iron water main, which are more durable and are comprised of about 90 percent recycled metal materials. The work is taking place on North High Street between Ashbridge and Gay streets.

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed in March, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in spring 2023.

In East Bradford and Birmingham townships, crews recently began working on a $1 million project to replace 4,900 feet of aging 6-inch water main with new 8-inch ductile iron water main on the following streets:

  • Squire Cheyney Drive between Country Club Road and the end of the cul-de-sac
  • General Cornwallis Drive between Squire Cheyney and Squire Cheyney drives

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed in March, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in spring 2023.

The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and will improve water flow in the area.
