Career and technical education centers in the area, including Chester County Technical College High School, will receive $1.2 million from the state this year for new equipment, writes Aubri Juhasz for the WHYY

This move further solidifies Gov. Tom Wolf’s spending record in his final days in office. When he took office in 2015, Wolf noted that increasing funding for education was his top priority. Since then, his administration has distributed over $3.7 billion in additional dollars for all levels of education.

The state chose 33 career and technical centers along with two school districts to each receive up to $50,000.

“Investing in career readiness and career exploration is a priority for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and we encourage recipients to utilize this funding to enhance and expand these learning programs which will help students excel in their chosen fields,” said acting Secretary of Education Eric Hagarty.

Chester County Technical College High School received $11,000 in funding.

Other education facilities in the greater Philadelphia area that received the funds include Bucks County Technical High School, Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, North Montco Tech Career Center, and Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center, which received $50,000 each. Upper Bucks County Technical School was granted $30,167.
