Jan. 15 is National Kombucha Day, and what better way is there to celebrate than cracking open a bottle of Phoenixville’s Baba’s Brew, writes Holly Herman for Patch.

Olga Sorzano started the company back in 2015, with her great-grandmother Baba Dora as a driving source of inspiration. Having grown up in Siberia, Sorzano grew up drinking her great-grandmother’s brew. Sorzano moved to the U.S. in the year 2000.

“A few years later, when expecting my first child, I began to have cravings for the taste of home. I realized I needed to get back to my roots and started brewing kombucha,” said Sorzano.

The brand’s logo, which is a squirrel, takes after her great grandmother’s childhood nickname “little red squirrel” because of her red hair.

Stop by A Culture Factory in Phoenixville or find one of many flavors at your local Whole Foods, Wegman’s, or MOM’s. The Ruby Slipper features notes of tart cherries and cranberries. The Bee’s Knee’s has a richer, sweeter flavor with notes of caramel, chamomile, and wildflower honey. The bright green brew Believe has juniper berries, ginger root, lemon, balm, yerba mate, and chlorophyll.
