West Chester “Pinks It Up” to Support Breast Cancer Patients with Wellness Services

By

Women are “pinkin’ it up” for a West Chester-based nonprofit that gifts wellness services to breast cancer patients, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6ABC.

Unite for HER (Helping to Empower and Restore) is now a nationwide organization, and with its growth comes a higher demand. It’s now experiencing a waitlist, and it relies on donations to serve more patients.

That’s where the month-long fundraiser “Pinkin’ It Up” comes in. It’s hosted by employees of Re/Max Main Line. This year, the fundraiser collected $3,000 in donations with raffles, sponsors, individual contributions and a pink cupcake sale.

Over 2,000 recipients receive the HER Care Box containing beauty products and a “self-care passport”, that gives them access to massages, acupuncture, yoga classes and more.

Recipients like Chantal Baxter have seen the benefits of this service.

“From education to counseling to therapies, all of that helped me manage what I needed both mentally and physically,” said Baxter. “As well as creating that support group that we all often need in addition to family and friends.”
