Best-selling author Sara Shepard will be returning to Downingtown High School to talk about bullying.

It’s been 16 years since bestselling author Sara Shepard’s popular novel series made its debut. Pretty Little Liars has since been adapted into an award-winning television show with multiple spin-offs. The successful author is returning to her alma mater, Downingtown High School, to discuss a common theme in both the books and the shows: bullying.

On Oct. 25, Shepherd will be accompanied by actress Zakiya Young, who plays the role of Faran’s mother, Corey, on Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. She will join via Zoom.

“Programs on anti-bullying are so important because words hurt. Actions hurt. And there is this pressure to conform when you’re in high school—when you’re just finding your voice—and it can be really difficult to stand up for yourself in the moment,” said Young.

The event, “A Conversation About Bullying” is in honor of National Bullying Prevention month. It will also be the chance for Shepherd to release her new book, Wait For Me.

Guests will get a chance to purchase the book and attend a meet and greet book signing. The event starts at 6:30 PM and attendees can register through Eventbrite.
