Landenberg Riding Program Helps Children, Adults With Disabilities Improve Quality of Life
Reins of Life, a special needs riding program in Landenberg, helps children and adults with disabilities to make huge strides in improving the quality of their lives, according to a staff report from The Daily Local News.
Founder and director Judy Hendrickson started the non-profit nearly three decades ago. Since then, Reins of Life has provided invaluable help to hundreds of individuals with diverse disabilities.
The therapeutic riding program has become essential to parents like Sarah McGrath of Oxford, who has seen tremendous growth in her four-year-old son, Asher. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy two years ago.
“Asher’s days are filled with ‘have to do’ tasks in his therapies,” said McGrath. “This is the one thing that is pure enjoyment. He gets to come ride his buddy and to pet him, and even something simple like the act of stretching to stroke the horse is hugely beneficial for him.”
The program relies primarily on donations to continue running. Its annual fundraiser, The Mane Event gala, is scheduled for Nov. 19.
