ChristianaCare received $2.5 million in federal funding last week to help restore health care services in southern Chester County, writes Fran Maye for the The Daily Local News

This funding will be used to help reopen the former Jennersville Hospital in West Grove.

The funding is part of the American Rescue Plan, which included funds for each state to address the impact of the pandemic. Last month, the Chester County board of commissioners adopted a plan to distribute $38 million out of the $100 million it received in grants. This included $2.5 million for the former hospital.

According to Dr. Janice Nevin, president and CEO of ChristianaCare, the resources will help bring quality health care to the region.

“These federal funds will greatly assist us in opening new health care services at the ChristianaCare West Grove Campus to serve the surrounding communities,” she added.

ChristianaCare acquired the location from Tower Health earlier this year.
