Hank's Place will temporarily reopen at the former site of Kennett Steak and Mushroom.

Hank’s Place, a popular eatery in Chadds Ford owned by Kathryn and Anthony Young, has been trying to rebuild since it was destroyed by floodwaters from Hurricane Ida. Now, the couple has decided on a new location in the meantime, writes Rich Schwartzman for Chadds Ford Live.

Since being forced to demolish the former site of Hank’s Place, the Youngs have served their tasty menu items from a grab-and-go food truck on Creek Road since April. Yet as of Oct. 1, the truck was closed with no notice with a sign that read join Hank’s Place in Kennett Square.

The couple plan to move into the the former Kennett Steak and Mushroom Restaurant on Birch Street on a month-to-month lease while their restaurant rebuilds.

So far, reopening in Chadds Ford seems to be another year or two away. Zoning variances are in the works, as well as more approvals that the Youngs need to bring Hank’s Place back and better than ever.
