David Gueriera, West Chester resident and Malvern Preparatory School football head coach, has been recognized by the Philadelphia Eagles as coach of the week, writes Sage Hurley for the Philadelphia Eagles News

Last Friday, Gueriera led his team to their third victory of the 2022 season. This put the Friars at an impressive No. 2 in the state. With three victories and no losses under their belt, the defending Inter-Academic League Champions are well on their way to another successful season.

Despite leading one of the top teams in the state that ranks high and boasts Division I football prospects each season, Gueriera’s passion for high school football does not stem from the top-notch program of Malvern Prep.

His coaching philosophy instead is founded on the pillars of love, accountability, and service. He is determined to lead his player to success that is far deeper than any scoreboard or stat sheet – and he has been doing this for more than two decades.

“That’s what I’m here for,” said Gueriera. “That’s why I got put on this earth. I’m trying to make good men here. Ultimately, that’s what I want.”
